From our Business Unit Fleet Support Services we support clients with new construction projects on site worldwide.

We are currently looking for 3 Preparation Engineers for major repair projects in Belgium.

The project The project concerns the major repair of 3 workboats. The project will start directly, major repairs is planned in June and August 2022. The intended duration is 3-6 months. The works are 5 days a week, 8- 10 hours a day. Project location in Head Office of the Client in Belgium. There is an option for involvement in the operational part of the project. Docking location is unknown at the moment.

Tasks & responsibilities In the role of Preparation Engineer you are responsible for preparing the work package / technical scope of the drydocking.

  • You challenge the scope with the Technical Superintendent and Vessel Manager of the ship. And you ensure that the definitive scope is established;
  • You make regular visits on board, in order to align the Scope of Work between Crew and Vessel Team;
  • You complete the tender package for Review by Docking Team Support and set up the RFQ process towards the shipyards;
  • You are involved in the awarding process and preparation of allocation of Crew, Subcontractors and shipyard;
  • You make a quality analysis with regard to the works to be performed;
  • You are responsible for the first risk assessments and be sure the necessary safety precautions and/or method statements are incorporated in the Specification;
  • You prepare the Testing and Commissioning Program;
  • You prepare the planning and budget of the project with the Planning Controller and Finance Controller;
  • During the operation you guide the TSI with coordination of the works and you are support for the Vessel Manager;
  • You coordinate and ensure that all processes will be executed correctly and in time in accordance with Stage Gate preparation for Major Repairs;
  • You arrange the necessary meetings with all stakeholders and/or other Departments.

Profile

Technical knowledge & soft skills

  • You have a proven track record in the field of preparation of (Major) repair / drydock projects;
  • It is a benefit if you have operational experience with repair / maintenance projects in shipbuilding;
  • You are able to see and manage the big picture;
  • You are practical, patient and you work decisively;
  • You have empathy and adaptability;
  • You have an excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written);
  • You have quality and planning awareness;
  • If necessary you are willing to travel and work abroad for a long period of time (approx. 6 months).
