Floating wind – from R&D to industrial deployment

Floating wind – from R&D to industrial deployment
The energy transition is moving into deeper waters, where fixed foundations are no longer viable. At Multi.engineering, we develop our own floating wind concepts and support clients in designing bespoke solutions for their projects.
From early studies to detailed engineering, with a clear focus on feasibility, constructability and scalability.

Moray Base

Moray Base floating wind foundation for 18+ MW turbines

A floating wind foundation developed for turbines of 18 MW and above, Moray Base is built on a simple and robust concept.

  • designed for industrial-scale production and efficient deployment
  • assembly and turbine erection performed afloat
  • limited draught (±7.5 m), enabling installation in a matter of days
  • no reliance on scarce drydocks or deep-water ports

The Moray Base concept is now moving beyond design and towards industrial application. Model testing at Océanide (France) was completed in December 2025 under the EU co-funded i3FLOAT project. In February 2026, Moray Base 2.0 received Approval in Principle from DNV.

Bespoke floating wind solutions

We support developers, contractors and suppliers in both adapting existing floating wind solutions and designing new concepts tailored to specific project conditions.

No one-size-fits-all, but engineering that fits the reality of each project.
