Department Overview

The Mechanical Department consists of approximately 50 employees and is responsible for the installation, connection, and commissioning of all mechanical systems in the engine rooms of newly built superyachts.

The team includes a Lead Production, Work Planners, a Technical Team Leader, skilled tradesmen, mechanics, and external contractors. Together, the team ensures that every superyacht delivered meets the highest quality standards and is ready to operate safely and reliably worldwide.

In this role, you will work closely with suppliers and co-builders in the Rotterdam region, supporting mechanical installation activities across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of approximately 10 mechanically trained technicians (permanent and freelance) on board superyachts

  • Coordinate mechanical activities in areas constructed by co-builders and partner companies

  • Liaise with subcontractors regarding technical requirements for mechanical system installation

  • Plan, organize, and distribute daily work activities

  • Ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to planning

  • Coordinate activities within agreed timelines and budgets

  • Deploy team members effectively, using individual skills and experience

  • Ensure all work meets the highest quality standards

  • Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Coach, guide, and develop individual team members

  • Participate in daily coordination and start-up meetings for superyacht projects

Profile

Requirements

  • MBO-3 or MBO-4 education in metalworking, mechanical engineering, or a similar technical field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading or coordinating a technical team in a production environment

  • Ability to read and interpret complex (3D) technical drawings

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

  • VCA VOL certificate preferred, or willingness to obtain it

  • Comfortable working with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Good command of Dutch and English, spoken and written

Contract details

  • Employment contract or freelance assignment possible
