Job | Naval Structural Engineer – Hull & FEM Analysis | Rotterdam
Job description
In this role, you will be responsible for the structural analysis of hulls and primary ship structures during the basic design phase. You will ensure strength, stiffness, and vibration performance from the earliest stages of design.
As a Naval Structural Engineer, you play a key role in translating design concepts into structurally sound and class-compliant vessels. Your work directly contributes to the safety, integrity, and performance of complex ships.
Your Responsibilities

Perform structural analyses and hull design calculations

Analyse global and local strength, stiffness, and vibration behaviour

Apply classification rules and client requirements in structural design
-
Work with classification tools such as DNV-GL Nauticus, LR-SSC, and BV MARS2000
-
Carry out FEM analyses using ANSYS, Siemens NX, and/or FEMAP
-
Support method development, R&D activities, and continuous improvement

Collaborate with naval architects, designers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Profile
Your Profile
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
-
At least 3 years of experience in hull structural analysis
-
Experience with class calculations and FEM
-
Familiar with Siemens NX, ANSYS, and/or FEMAP
-
Experience within the maritime or shipbuilding sector
-
Fluent in English
