Do you have experience with technical fleet management, maintenance planning and drydock preparation? As a Technical Superintendent in Rotterdam, you will manage the technical condition and maintenance of a tugboat fleet. You will work with crews, contractors and suppliers in an environment where both Dutch and English are used. This is a mainly on-site position.

Where You'll Work

Working closely with onboard crews, operations, internal departments and suppliers, you will connect day-to-day technical troubleshooting with long-term maintenance and investment planning.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will help ensure that the vessels remain safe, operational and compliant with classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory regulations. You will also identify improvements to technical maintenance that support the fleet’s environmental objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain the annual technical plan, including short- and long-term maintenance and investment planning for OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Coordinate the maintenance schedule with the Operations department and verify that planned work meets operational requirements.
  • Ensure that the technical management of the fleet complies with classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Prepare and coordinate repair and drydock projects, including planning, specifications, tendering, evaluation, contract award and resource planning.
  • Act as the first technical point of contact for onboard crews, advising them on safe, effective and cost-conscious maintenance.
  • Manage spare-parts inventory and maintain control over stock levels.
  • Inspect the tugboats, monitor their overall technical condition and report your findings.
  • Maintain the vessels’ technical documentation and propose maintenance improvements with attention to environmental impact.

Profile

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a comparable maritime discipline.
  • At least three years of experience in a comparable maritime position involving vessel maintenance or technical fleet management.
  • Practical experience with maintenance planning, repairs and drydock preparation.
  • Knowledge of classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory maritime regulations.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to motivate and support other technical professionals.

Role: Senior Naval Architect – Project Engineer Work location: Kaag or Amsterdam, the Netherlands Start: ASAP Duration: Long-term Contract: Employment contract Language: English Focus: Naval architecture, hydrostatics, weight control, load line, tonnage, intact damage stability, inclining test, and large custom-built superyachts If your background is in naval architecture or marine engineering, this position gives you ownership of a broad technical scope within superyacht projects. You will review stability, weight, hydrostatics, performance and regulatory deliverables while working with an international, English-speaking project team. Relocation support is available in case you are moving to the Netherlands. Where You’ll Work You will work at a Dutch shipyard specialising in fully custom-built superyachts between approximately 70 and 160 metres. Depending on the project, your workplace will be the yacht construction facility in Kaag or the modern shipyard in Amsterdam, where both newbuild and refit projects are completed. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will manage the naval architecture scope for one or more projects. Detailed calculations and analyses are generally prepared by external specialists. Your responsibility is to review and challenge these deliverables, coordinate the relevant technical interfaces, and maintain consistency across the complete naval architecture scope. What You’ll Do Take technical ownership of the naval architecture scope within your assigned superyacht project or projects. Review and challenge deliverables covering stability, weight management, hydrostatics, vessel performance and watertight integrity. Verify technical documentation related to structural fire protection, load line, tonnage and other regulatory requirements. Ensure that naval architecture deliverables comply with project requirements, classification rules and flag regulations. Translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions that can be implemented during construction. Coordinate technical discussions with classification societies, flag administrations, suppliers and engineering partners. Resolve naval architecture issues during construction and provide technical support at the shipyard when required. Support inclining tests, sea trials, docking, launching and transport operations. Work closely with the Lead Engineer, Project Management, Production and other engineering disciplines to maintain technical alignment.

Role: Electrical Detail Engineer Workplace: Rotterdam, Netherlands Start: ASAP Duration: Long-term, up to one year or more Contract: Employment contract or freelance assignment Focus: Electrical detail drawings, as-built documentation, naval vessel modifications, EPLAN, MicroStation, CAD You will convert electrical drawings, mark-ups, redlines, and engineering input into accurate as-built and detail drawings for naval vessel maintenance and modification projects. Your work helps make sure the final drawing package reflects the actual onboard situation, with clear traceability between the original design, field input, and final documentation. This role is available both as a permanent employment position and as a freelance assignment. Where You’ll Work: You will work from the Den Helder engineering office on a naval vessel project. What You’ll Be Working On: Naval vessels include many electrical systems and interfaces that must be documented with care. In this role, you will focus on electrical installations, onboard modifications, system interfaces, and as-built documentation. You will work from existing drawings, mark-ups, field input, and approved design changes, translating them into clear and usable detail drawings. Your work supports engineering, maintenance, production, and final project handover. What You’ll Do: Convert electrical mark-ups, redlines, and engineering input into accurate as-built and detail drawings. Update electrical drawings and documentation in line with project standards, vessel configuration, and approved design changes. Prepare detail drawings for electrical installations, interfaces, and onboard modifications. Work with EPLAN, MicroStation, or comparable CAD tools, with internal training available where needed. Coordinate with electrical engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to clarify technical input. Resolve drawing issues and help keep the electrical documentation consistent. Job | Electrical Engineer | Rotterdam

Role: Electrical Engineer Work location: Rotterdam, the Netherlands – on-site Start: As soon as possible Duration: Approximately five months Contract: Freelance assignment Language: Advanced Dutch is mandatory Focus: Electrical ship design, MicroStation, electrical installations, drive systems and automation Due to the military nature of the project, only EU citizens will be considered. With experience in electrical ship design and the ability to work independently from the first day, you can step directly into this Electrical Engineer assignment in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. You will work on-site for 40 hours per week within an advanced maritime engineering setting. As daily technical coordination takes place in Dutch, fluency in the language is essential. Where You’ll Work You will join an engineering team working on technically complex maritime projects, including naval vessels, floating offshore energy applications and special vessels. Projects range from concept development to complete design engineering. During this assignment, you may contribute to large-scale programmes, as well as smaller, intensive projects requiring focused engineering and close coordination between disciplines. What You’ll Do Develop electrical designs for maritime projects. Prepare and update electrical design drawings and engineering deliverables in MicroStation. Work on the design of shipboard electrical installations, drive systems and automation. Take responsibility for your own engineering scope and deliver independently from the first day. Coordinate technical interfaces with other Electrical Engineers and maritime engineering disciplines. Provide customers and colleagues with clear electrical engineering input. Contribute practical ideas for technical innovations and the further development of the electrical engineering discipline.
