- Focus: Technical management, maintenance planning, OPEX/CAPEX, repairs and drydocking for a tugboat fleet
Do you have experience with technical fleet management, maintenance planning and drydock preparation? As a Technical Superintendent in Rotterdam, you will manage the technical condition and maintenance of a tugboat fleet. You will work with crews, contractors and suppliers in an environment where both Dutch and English are used. This is a mainly on-site position.
Where You'll Work
Working closely with onboard crews, operations, internal departments and suppliers, you will connect day-to-day technical troubleshooting with long-term maintenance and investment planning.
Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will help ensure that the vessels remain safe, operational and compliant with classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory regulations. You will also identify improvements to technical maintenance that support the fleet’s environmental objectives.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain the annual technical plan, including short- and long-term maintenance and investment planning for OPEX and CAPEX.
- Coordinate the maintenance schedule with the Operations department and verify that planned work meets operational requirements.
- Ensure that the technical management of the fleet complies with classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory regulations.
- Prepare and coordinate repair and drydock projects, including planning, specifications, tendering, evaluation, contract award and resource planning.
- Act as the first technical point of contact for onboard crews, advising them on safe, effective and cost-conscious maintenance.
- Manage spare-parts inventory and maintain control over stock levels.
- Inspect the tugboats, monitor their overall technical condition and report your findings.
- Maintain the vessels’ technical documentation and propose maintenance improvements with attention to environmental impact.
Profile
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a comparable maritime discipline.
- At least three years of experience in a comparable maritime position involving vessel maintenance or technical fleet management.
- Practical experience with maintenance planning, repairs and drydock preparation.
- Knowledge of classification society rules, flag state requirements and statutory maritime regulations.
- Good written and spoken communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- A collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to motivate and support other technical professionals.
