Towage Tier III

CAPEX saving due to optimized project approach by MULTI.engineering

BOLUDA was the first towage company in Europe to convert an existing tugboat to comply with the IMO Tier III standards. BOLUDA embarked on this project together with supplier Anglo Belgian Corporation. The aim was to reduce exhaust emissions and addressing the local port authorities’ demand for cleaner operations in the port area.

To ensure that the vessel is complying with the IMO Tier III standard, the ABC engine’s exhaust gasses are subjected to a special after-treatment known as Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR).

After hearing the encountered challenges MULTI.engineering saw opportunities for improvement and made a proposition for a more proactive project execution for the second vessel.
